STANHILL METHODIST HERITAGE
This weekend the Stanhill Methodist Church will be celebrating the heritage of Stanhill Chapel which is one of the oldest working Methodist churches in the region. The Chapel will be open on Saturday (10.30 am – 4.30 pm) and Sunday ( 12.00 am – 4.30 pm) with displays and information.
In addition, the famous Stanhill Spinning Jenny will be on display freshly returned from its summer residence at the Great Exhibition of the North in Newcastle where it was displayed alongside John Lennon’s piano among other items. The brand new video ‘ James Hargreaves – Spin Doctor’ will also be showing and a demonstration of wool spinning will take place between 2.00 pm – 3.00 pm each day.
