Sara Britcliffe, MP for Haslingden and Hyndburn, has helped to launch a major new campaign with North Lancs Training Group to get people back into work now that Covid-19 restrictions are lifting.

NLTG, based in Accrington, provide many free courses for people of all ages who are not currently in work. It’s a chance to gain skills, retrain, and give people a better chance of entering the workplace with the skills that local employers need.

Courses last from one day to twenty days in length, so aren’t a huge commitment in time. They’re completely free for the learner, and lunch is also provided. Learners are fully supported all the way through the courses for the best outcomes.

Nationally recognised certificates are available in diverse areas such as IT, Employability Skills, Hospitality, Furniture Manufacturing, Retail/Customer Service, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Maths and English.  These lead to real jobs in the local area and can be life-changing for learners.

Rezwana Imtiaz is one of our success stories. Rezwana tried a few of our different courses before joining the Hospitality course. This led to real employment prospects, and is she is now having great success working in the kitchen at Hollins School. She’s excited about her future.

Gareth Lindsay, Managing Director of the North Lancs Training Group based in Accrington said, “We find lots of reasons why people might want current training, from lack of confidence, the fear that they won’t be able to succeed, to a lack of engagement at school previously. We provide friendly and straightforward training and reskilling to get people into work, and have success stories to prove it works. We visit lots of local businesses to encourage them to assess their current needs, and provide those opportunities to get people back into the workplace.”

Sara Britcliffe, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, added: “We all want jobs for Hyndburn and for people to be in employment, to keep our economy strong.  I’ve been working with NLTG to help launch this campaign and make sure people know help, support and training is available for people who find themselves out of work for whatever reason. There is a wealth of support available to employers too, if they’re not aware of these programmes. Let’s use the post Covid-19 opportunity, as we all take stock and move forward, to create a real boost for Hyndburn’s economy!”
