Trinity Care Group have showcased their support to the local community this Christmas by donating 100 selection boxes to bring some Christmas cheer to young carers at Carers Link Lancashire.

The selection boxes, which will be distributed to young carers registered with the service who provide care for their own parents and/or siblings, were donated to Carers Link Lancashire in Accrington. Tasks carried out by young carers include shopping, preparing meals, looking after siblings, washing, looking after family, emotional support, giving medication and keeping their family company.

Carers Link Lancashire is an independent registered charity, with the aim of supporting unpaid carers across the boroughs of East Lancashire. They provide practical and emotional support to children aged from just six who care for a loved one.

Located on Blackburn Road in Accrington, Carers Link Lancashire also run a community facility including a charity shop, information and support hub, community café and a garden, all of which can be used by the carers, the people they care for and the wider community in Hyndburn.

Sam Briggs, Young Carer Support Worker at Carers Link Lancashire, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Trinity Care for the selection boxes, and the young carers will really appreciate these over Christmas.

“The selection boxes will go to young carers who look after their parents and siblings, whether it is doing the hoovering, giving medication or taking them out for lunch. These treats will provide them with something which they normally might not get.”

Brooklea Mills, Recruitment Manager at Trinity Care Group, commented: “The young carers at Carers Link Lancashire are amazing people and the things they do to support their loved ones, from a very young age, is just incredible.

“We hope the donation of these selection boxes can go a little way to rewarding their tremendous efforts this Christmas.”
