Thanks to generous funding by the Integrated Care Board and a really successful first run, Great Harwood Rovers have launched a second X-Pert FREE Weight loss course for health and weight loss, which is open to both men and women, free to participate in and starts on 23rd April – and can even be accessed by Zoom.

X-Pert FREE Weightloss is a 12-week program designed for people who want to participate in football—either by playing or volunteering—but feel they aren’t fit enough. This initiative aims to support people who wish to tackle their weight issues and improve their health through helpful advice and encouragement in a social group.

The program is ideal for people with a BMI of 27.5 or higher who are looking to enhance their physical and mental well-being. The 12 sessions will incorporate football with guidance from the X-PERT Weight & Wellbeing Programme, focusing on food-related education and well-being. The first session begins on Wednesday, 23rd April, at 6:00 pm.

X-Pert FREE Weightloss is a football-based programme for people who want to lose weight and get fit. All levels of fitness are encouraged to take part, and the classes can be accessed by Zoom so no fear of missing out.

Dr. Trudi Deakin, research dietitian and founder of the charity X-PERT Health said, “The X-PERT Weight and Wellbeing Programme is all about health and wellbeing. We deliver education in bite-sized chunks to develop knowledge, understanding, and the confidence for people to make self-informed decisions about their own health.

“The next programme is due to start on Wednesday, the 23rd of April. It’s virtual, so you can just log on to Zoom and attend in your own comfort, and it continues for 12 weeks. It’s completely free to attend, and it won’t just benefit you now, it will also benefit you in the future, your health and your wellbeing!”

Frank Dornokos, participant in the first course is really happy with the results. He said, “I wanted to lose weight properly rather than just losing weight and then putting it back on, which I’ve done in the past.

“Coming in, talking to other people, and when you see other people losing weight, it encourages you. I’ve lost about a stone and 60 mm off my waistline, so I’m happy with that and more to come, hopefully!”

There are 20 FREE places available on the programme. You can message chairman@ghrfc.com to secure your place.
