Accrington Stanley supporter Isaac Taylor has lived out his dream of becoming a mascot at the Wham Stadium, capping off a remarkable journey that began in April last year.
Ten-year-old Isaac, from Halifax, first visited the Wham Stadium when his hometown club played against Barnet and Ebbsfleet due to issues with the Halifax pitch. So impressed was he by the warm welcome and atmosphere that he has since returned as a passionate Accrington Stanley fan.
This weekend, Isaac took centre stage as he enjoyed the increasingly popular Accrington Stanley Mascot Experience during the club’s match against Oldham Athletic. He enjoyed a delicious meal in the world-class 1968 Lounge, where a signed Accrington Stanley football awaited him as a special keepsake.
Supporter Liaison Officer Robert Houseman then led Isaac on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the stadium. He enjoyed pitchside photographs, visited the changing rooms to meet the players, and even spent time in the manager’s office collecting autographs and memories.
Isaac also had the chance to enjoy a kickabout on the pitch with Anjola Popoola before proudly walking out alongside his heroes ahead of kick-off. He went on to watch the game with his family, complete with half-time refreshments.
Reflecting on his day, Isaac said: “It has been great meeting all the players, going into the changing rooms and getting my shirt signed.”
Accrington Stanley CEO Warren Eastham said: “We were delighted to welcome Isaac and his family as part of the Accrington Stanley community. It means a great deal to us that their initial experience at the Wham Stadium inspired them to return as supporters.
“Our mascot experience is a wonderful way for young fans to create unforgettable memories and feel truly connected to the club, and Isaac’s joy is exactly why we are so proud to offer it.”
