The winner of Accrington Market’s popular fruit and veg hamper social media competition has collected her prize from Smiths Fresh Produce.
Vicky Johnson was randomly selected as the lucky winner from more than 300 entries received across Accrington Market’s social media channels.
Vicky visited Accrington Market with her family on Friday to collect the hamper, which was presented by Damian Smith from Smiths Fresh Produce. Her daughter, Alys, was particularly excited to get her hands on the fresh strawberries included in the prize.
The competition proved a big hit online, generating more than 36,000 views and attracting over 300 comments from people hoping to win the hamper.
Competition winner Vicky Johnson said: “I was delighted to win the fruit and veg hamper from Smiths. My daughter can’t wait to enjoy the strawberries!”
Cllr Clare Pritchard, Hyndburn Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transformation and Town Centres, said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people engaging with Accrington Market and supporting our local traders. The response to this competition has been wonderful, with more than 300 entries and thousands of people seeing what the market has to offer.
“A huge congratulations to Vicky and her family, and thank you to Smiths Fresh Produce for providing such a fantastic prize. Make sure you get down to Smiths for all your fresh fruit and veg, and while you’re here, take the time to have a look around and support the rest of our incredible Accrington Market traders too.”
