Vehicle enthusiasts travelled from far and wide to Great Harwood as the town’s popular Transport Weekend returned for another successful year.
The two-day Great Harwood Transport Weekend took place at Great Harwood Showground on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6thSeptember, bringing together an impressive variety of cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles.
Organised by the Town & District Transport Trust (TDTT), the event attracted visitors of all ages, with enthusiasts given the chance to get up close to an extensive collection of vehicles and meet others who share their passion for transport.
Among those attending over the weekend were the Mayor of Hyndburn, Cllr Noordad Aziz, and MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden, Sarah Smith.
Sarah Smith MP said: “It was great to attend the Great Harwood Transport Weekend and see so many people coming together to share their passion for transport.
“The variety of vehicles on display was amazing, and you could see just how much work and enthusiasm had gone into bringing everything together for the weekend.”
Local coach operator Cranberry Coaches was also at the show, displaying a selection of vehicles from its fleet, including a new addition offering enhanced accessibility for wheelchair users.
There was also plenty to celebrate for those taking home prizes from the weekend, with awards recognising some of the standout vehicles on display.
Martyn Rogers took third place in the Best Light Transport and Classic category with his 1936 Morris 8, while Christine and Peter from Cranberry Coaches were awarded Best Commercial and Passenger Transport.
The prestigious Best in Show title went to Stuart Barrett, from Heywood, who took first place with his ERF EC11 Olympic.
Mayor of Hyndburn, Cllr Noordad Aziz, said: “I really enjoyed learning more about the wheelchair accessibility available on the Cranberry Coaches vehicle. It was fantastic to see how thought has gone into making coach travel more accessible and inclusive.”
Alongside the main vehicle displays, visitors were able to enjoy food and drink, a bar and a variety of stalls throughout the weekend.
Free bus rides were also provided to and from the showground, adding to the transport theme and giving visitors another way to enjoy the event.
The Great Harwood Transport Weekend is organised by the Town & District Transport Trust and has become a popular fixture for transport enthusiasts and families, celebrating vehicles from across different eras and bringing together owners, operators and visitors for a weekend in Great Harwood.
