Three exciting apprenticeship vacancies are now open for applications at Accrington Market, offering the chance to gain hands-on experience and develop new skills as the newly renovated market prepares to reopen in late November.

Hyndburn Borough Council is recruiting three Apprentice Crew Members to join the Accrington Market team, with successful applicants having the opportunity to be part of the exciting new project.

The apprenticeships will offer a wide range of experience across food, drink, hospitality and events, with successful candidates learning on the job while working towards a Level 2 Food and Beverage Team Member apprenticeship through North Lancs Training Group.

The roles will involve serving customers at the new bar, preparing and serving food and drinks, supporting events and entertainment, and helping to deliver a fantastic experience for visitors.

Apprentices will also have the opportunity to gain experience in event preparation, front-of-house operations and working alongside performers, artists, sound engineers and event organisers, as well as developing practical kitchen skills.

The three full-time positions are paid at the Foundation Living Wage rate of £27,128.40 for 37 hours per week, with benefits including 25 days’ holiday, access to discounts, reduced leisure membership and a pension scheme.

Successful candidates will also work in the Town Hall, gaining valuable practical experience as part of the wider town centre venues team.

Cllr Clare Pritchard, Hyndburn Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Transformation and Town Centres, said: “The reopening of Accrington Market is a really exciting time for our town centre, and it’s fantastic that the project is also creating new employment opportunities. These apprenticeships are another great example of how the investment in the market is supporting our local economy and creating opportunities for the future.”

Cllr Jodi Clements, Portfolio Holder for Communities, Education and Skills, said: “These are fantastic opportunities for young local people to develop new skills, gain qualifications and take their first steps into a career. It’s brilliant to see Accrington Market helping to develop local talent and offering apprentices the chance to learn in such an exciting environment.”

Penny Thomson, Apprenticeship Manager, said: “We’ve got three really exciting roles available, offering a fantastic mix of hands-on experience across hospitality, food and drink, and events. There’s so much variety involved, and it’s a brilliant opportunity to learn on the job while being part of a brand-new chapter for Accrington Market.”

Applications are now open, with the deadline set for Thursday, 12th November at 11:59 pm.
