Accrington Stanley Women are set to return to the Wham Stadium for an end-of-season friendly against Bolton Wanderers Women on Sunday 19th April, with kick-off scheduled for 1pm and free entry for all supporters.
The fixture promises to deliver an entertaining afternoon, bringing together two sides who shared a fiercely competitive rivalry last season, battling for both league honours and cup success.
With that recent history in mind, fans can expect a high-quality and competitive encounter as both teams look to finish their campaigns on a high.
Stanley Women have enjoyed another impressive season, securing a top-three league finish and reaching the semi-finals of a cup competition, underlining their continued progress and ambition.
The club’s Alliance Design & Print Cup semi-final on Sunday ended in a 4-2 loss at Chester. Charlotte Greenwood and Kara Lee were on the scoresheet for Stanley Women, but it was in vain as they suffered defeat at the Deva Stadium.
Supporters are encouraged to make a full day of it at the Wham Stadium, with Coley’s open from 12pm and throughout the afternoon, offering a great range of drinks from the bar, plus pool and darts. Pie, peas and gravy will also be available between 12pm and 2pm.
Adding to the occasion, “Super Sunday” will be shown live on the big screen, with Manchester City taking on Arsenal in what could prove to be a Premier League title decider.
Accrington Stanley Women Chair, Sami Smithson, said: “It’s fantastic to be back playing at the Wham Stadium. It might be the end of the season but it will be a really competitive game between two great sides and we can’t wait for it. Thank you to Accrington Stanley for having us.”
