ACCRINGTON STANLEY’S BIG SHIRT GIVEAWAY TO RETURN FOR SEVENTH YEAR

Accrington Stanley’s extremely popular big shirt giveaway will return to the Wham Stadium on Wednesday 27th September 2023 for the seventh consecutive year.

Every Year Three class from 39 local schools have been invited to the Wham Stadium, with transportation arranged for them.  Children will have the opportunity to visit the ground, meet team players and staff and have a full professional class picture taken on the day, as well as receiving their free Accrington Stanley football shirt, featuring shirt sponsors Wham, Sundown Solutions and Studio Retail Ltd.

Through Accrington Stanley’s partner for the event, #AmazingAccrington, all pupils visiting the ground will also receive various other goodies donated by local businesses and club sponsors.

With the support of schools across Hyndburn, this programme will have given away just over 8,400 Accrington Stanley shirts and goodie bags; it is designed to encourage youngsters in the borough to take an interest in sport, get involved in sport, and feel connected to their local professional League Two club.

Andy Holt, Chairman and Owner of Accrington Stanley FC, said: “It is the best thing we do as a football club and we are very proud to be doing it again this year for the seventh time.

“The impact the shirt giveaway has had on our club is amazing. The number of families and youngsters attending matches increases every year and long may that continue!”

Kate Morgan, Head of Talent at Studio Retail Ltd, added: “We are delighted to be supporting this fantastic initiative again this year. It is wonderful to see all the children receiving their shirts and we are excited to see all those smiles on faces again in September.”

Heath Groves, CEO of Sundown Solutions, commented: “This is one of the most impressive community activities, not only here in Lancashire but across the UK. Over 8,000 shirts have been given away by the club since Andy Holt started this activity and we couldn’t be prouder to be involved.”
