Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for #AmazingAccrington to step it up a gear for this weekend’s Soapbox Challenge, which is FREE to attend for spectators.

Starting at 11:30am, the Soapbox Challenge will take place on Little Blackburn Road, starting at Property Shop, going down onto the new Town Square in Accrington Town Centre. An accompanying Classic Car Show, Treasure Trail and numerous stalls will make for a full day of fantastic family fun.

Over 50 cars will be attending the event and be on display during the day outside Accrington Town Hall from 9:30am until 4pm, ranging from Morris Minors and Minis to Fords and Ferraris. There are still a few spaces left for car enthusiasts to show case their super, sports, vintage and rally cars: visit the #AmazingAccrington Facebook page to find out how to enter.

As per last year, competitors will have one week to complete the Treasure Trail to be in with the chance of winning £250, kindly donated by local company, Hippo Motor Group. The map is available to download online at www.amazingaccrington.co.uk

Zahida, Events Director at #AmazingAccrington, commented:

“We have had a number of people asking whether there will be a spectator area designated for disabled attendees and we would like to confirm that this will be the case. It’s important to us that the events we host in the town are enjoyable by all, so we have set aside a shaded area that is accessible and is positioned as such so no one will be able to walk in front or obstruct views.”

Parking for the event, including disabled bays, will be available as normal around Accrington Town Centre and in various car parks including Accrington Arndale Centre.

#AmazingAccrington are working in conjunction with Hyndburn Borough Council to deliver the biggest event the town has ever seen!

Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said:

“The event is fast approaching and we can’t wait. We wanted to be a part of the fun this year and will be entering the race with the mayoral charity. There has been a massive buzz about the event on social media and hopefully it will bring footfall into Accrington; getting the tills ringing for local businesses. It’s fantastic to see businesses and the community coming together to provide this free day out that has something to offer for every member of the family to enjoy.”

The events would not be possible without sponsors: Emerson and Renwick, North Lancs Training Group and Financial Affairs.
