#AMAZINGACCRINGTON POSTS FESTIVE ‘SHOP LOCAL’ MAGAZINE TO EVERY HOUSEHOLD IN HYNDBURN

Shopping in your local independent shops has never been so important, to help the local economy as we all withstand the longer effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions.

#AmazingAccrington are publishing a special one off Christmas magazine, in order to encourage and remind people just how many wonderful and unique shops selling goods and services we have in Hyndburn. The festive edition of our magazine is dedicated to shopping local, to give a boost to Hyndburn’s local high streets, focusing on Accrington Centre and the Markets, Oswaldtwistle, Great Harwood, Rishton, Clayton-le-Moors, Baxenden, Church, Altham, Huncoat, and Belthorn. Our gift guide shows a great selection of Hyndburn sourced items, ranging from a pineapple at £1.60 to a Lister car at £129,950.

We have a Living in Lockdown feature on Sky Sports presenter David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, an A-Z poem written and performed on video for Accrington by local actor Julie Hesmondhalgh, a history article on the Spinning Jenny, and a feature with Paul Kendrick, MD of the borough’s largest employer, Studio.

We’ve shown some love to the individual townships and their wonderful High Streets and characters, and featured the moving new Memorial Garden at Accrington Stanley, plus their annual children’s shirt giveaway to over 1200 pupils.

It’s more than just a magazine though – QR codes are featured throughout, so you can watch the accompanying videos on your phone. Just hover your smartphone camera over the code, and it provides a link to click through.

Miles Parkinson, Leader of Hyndburn Borough Council, said “At times like these our communities come together to support each other. This marketing initiative, by combining both print and digital products with innovative videos, will bring the high street offering to everyone and remind us just what we have on offer locally! #ThinkHyndburn #ShopLocal is my Christmas mantra.“

Sara Britcliffe, MP, said “I was part of the initial plan to support our high streets through this wonderful publication, and can only reiterate the importance to our local economy of shopping local.”

Murray Dawson, Chairman of #AmazingAccrington, said “I’m immensely proud of all the content generated by my team over the last 6 months. It’s been so enjoyable speaking to all the different business owners and being able to showcase all the wonderful things on offer in Hyndburn.

Let’s use this time to really boost Hyndburn. If all our 80,000 residents in Hyndburn just spent an extra £5 weekly in local shops, that would be an extra £400,000 a week kept directly within our borough, helping keep us financially secure for the future.“

The magazine is being delivered to every one of Hyndburn’s 36,406 households w/c 23rd November.
