Accrington’s Town Square is set to host Amazing Accrington’s Big Weekend this August Bank Holiday, with a packed programme of events bringing fun and excitement into the heart of Accrington, from Friday 23rdto Sunday 25thAugust.

The weekend kicks off on the Square on Friday with ‘Accrington’s Biggest Quiz’, a fun family interactive quiz where Accrington Town Square will be transformed into an outdoor garden with family friendly entertainment and a big screen to track your scores. Many teams are now booked on, and the quiz is getting even bigger, don’t miss your chance to join in, registration is £10, so if you have 5 team members that’s only £2 each for quiz entry and a family prize bingo ticket.

On Saturday afternoon the Square will host a ‘Pop Party’, featuring free live music, fairground rides and community stalls. This family friendly event is set to entertain all afternoon, designed for teens, tweens and in-betweeners, this music event will have everything for all budding festival goers.

The Biggest Weekend will end spectacularly on Sunday 25thwith a ‘Fantastical Forest Parade,’ a colourful and lively procession of giant puppets,including a fifteen foot Oaken Giant, all complete with handmade props, parading though the town in a spectacle of music and dance.

The puppets and props are being made in a series of local workshops running up to the weekend which are open to anyone who wants to make costumes, parade art or help create a giant puppet. So don’t miss your chance to get involved in the last event of Accrington’s Biggest Weekend! The FREE interactive workshops are taking place over the next two weeks, so get involved and to help create puppets, or learn how to walk on stilts – unleash your creative side.
