Accrington Stanley recently welcomed a group of supporters from Norway to their League Two clash against Crewe Alexandra at the Wham stadium, as the club continues to bring inward investment into the local economy.

‘Fellowship of the Norwegian Accrington Stanley Supporters’ were match sponsors for the game, having also celebrated their 20-year anniversary tour in 2023 with a visit to Accrington.

Their visit continued what has been an international feel at the Wham stadium this season, with the club also attracting supporters from Arnhem in the Netherlands and Brazil.

Stanley’s Arnhem-based support attended the club’s Good Friday clash against Morecambe, while Brazilian journalist Fabricio Cardoso, his wife Monica, and their sons, Inacio and Olavo, saw Stanley beat AFC Wimbledon 2-0 back in February.

Fabricio has followed Stanley’s progress since discovering the club on the PlayStation, and decided to travel to Lancashire whilst visiting Europe.

David Burgess, Managing Director of Accrington Stanley, said: “It has been a great pleasure to welcome so many of our international fans to the Wham stadium this season.

“Most recently we welcomed a great set of lads from Fellowship of the Norwegian Accrington Stanley Supporters and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, both at the match and in Coley’s.

“As a club we are proud to attract people into the borough from around the world, with the international tourism boost so important to regional professional football clubs like ourselves, and we are looking forward to welcoming even more of our international supporters to the Wham stadium next season.”
