Future Energy Solutions Ltd are stepping up to foot the bill, gifting a full cooked Christmas dinner to 80 vulnerable people this winter in Accrington.

Working in partnership with Accrington and Rossendale College, who are preparing the meals in their on-site state of the art training kitchen, Future Energy are reaching out to their local community.

Charlotte Scheffmann, Assistant Principal at Accrington and Rossendale College said:

“Future Energy have come forward to do a wonderful thing this Christmas. 80 individuals in need will receive a full cooked Christmas dinner this December, prepared by Roots Restaurant here at the college. This is something which many of us take for granted. Due to ability, finances or practicalities lots of vulnerable people in our community don’t have this opportunity. I’m so proud we are all working together to make a difference.”

Joel Tetlow, Managing Director of Future Energy Solutions Ltd, commented:

“We spend the year using environmentally friendly resources to heat peoples’ homes and businesses; helping reduce energy costs both in the household and commercially. Future Energy really wanted to step up to help a local charity this year for Christmas and we decided the next best thing to providing heat to homes, is providing energy for people. Collectively we agreed that the best Christmas gift we can give vulnerable people this year is a hot meal to enjoy. Chris Dobson, tutor and chef at Accrington and Rossendale College is overseeing the project and we are sure the meals will be fantastic!”

Accrington-based charity, Maundy Relief, will receive the donation on Thursday 20th December – the team will distribute the Christmas meals between their service users, including families with young children and vulnerable adults.

Julie Hesmondhalgh, Patron of Maundy Relief, said:

“We are so incredibly thankful to all involved in making this happen. The #AmazingAccrington initiative has helped Maundy Relief massively. Maundy is completely reliant on the generosity of others and for people to continue supporting us in the lead up to Christmas, when money is tight for many, is fantastic. I know the organisation and all those who will benefit are very grateful for this generous donation.”

Maundy Relief is a registered charity based in #AmazingAccrington. The primary aim of the organisation is to support the local community through providing household furniture, goods and food; counselling for those in mental distress; companionship for the lonely; advice and informal advocacy for those struggling with bureaucracy; as well as hosting group activities and training.

The donation is going ahead as a part of the #AmazingAccrington initiative – local businesses once again coming together to support people in the local community and reaching out to those in need.
