The night sky above Accrington will be lit up in a riot of colour this Thursday 30 November as the town stages its annual countdown to Christmas and fireworks show.

Organised by Hyndburn Borough Council, the countdown to Christmas and fireworks show promises to be a treat for all the family; with a live music show, food, a Christmas funfair, an enormous snow globe and so much more.

The packed programme of entirely FREE entertainment on Broadway starts at 5:15 pm, with the fireworks display starting at 7:30 pm. Guest appearances from 2016 X-Factor stars, Ryan Lawrie and Sam Lavery, and local talent, Ella Shaw, will ensure an exciting evening will be had by all attending on the 2BR live music stage. Accrington Stanley players will also be appearing on the night.

The Ballroom at Accrington Town Hall will play host to an indoor Christmas craft market and guests can benefit from a spot of late-night Christmas shopping until 8:30 pm.

Councillor Clare Cleary, Cabinet Member for Accrington Town Centre, said:

“The town’s festive fun always brings an amazing atmosphere. It’s a time for families to get together and join in the festivities that are sure to help people get into the Christmas spirit.”

The event is sponsored by Duckworths Estate Agents and Accrington and Rossendale College.

Jonathan Parkinson, Director at Duckworths Estate Agents, said: “We are very proud to be a part of the festive activities happening in Accrington Town Centre and to help people get in to the Christmas spirit we will be opening our shop until 8:00 pm on the night and offering free hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies.”

Charlotte Scheffmann, Assistant Principal of Accrington and Rossendale College, added: “We really welcome anything we can get involved with that flies the flag for Accrington. It’s a wonderful town and we at the college are proud to be a part of this year’s event.”
